The Bead Vault was created to establish a museum containing a permanent collection of Ghana’s bead treasures. We portray Ghana’s bead culture through exhibits, research, education, and publications. We believe beads are an intrinsic part of Ghanaian history and society. Beads permeate Ghanaian culture. Our aim is to record, educate, and disseminate information about beads. We produce exhibitions to capture history and tradition before the demands of fast-paced modernity erases essential aspects of Ghanaian identity. We also strive to be a beacon of contemporary bead production and design, and to showcase the evolution of a continuous bead tradition.
